The Auburn University MRI Research Center leverages the university’s existing expertise in engineering, sciences, and veterinary medicine to improve healthcare through advanced magnetic resonance imaging.

The new facility, located in the Auburn University Research Park began in January 2010. The facility houses: a Siemens Verio open-bore 3T MRI scanner for clinical and research use; one of the first actively-shielded whole-body 7T MRI scanners in the U.S. for research use (available April 2012); a wet lab, coil design lab and space for associated Auburn University units and local medical groups as well as an MRI Educational Training Center
