10 Nov Canadian Alumni Week for law students at the University of Kent
Canadian Alumni Week is one of the highlights for Canadian law students at the University of Kent in the UK. Each year, the Canadian Law Society (CLS) at Kent Law School invites an alum to come and talk to students about their progress. The week also includes a negotiation competition and the Justin Yuen Moot Competition (with a moot problem set, in Canadian law, by the visiting alum).
The majority of Canadian students at Kent follow our accelerated ‘senior status’ route for graduates, allowing students who already hold a first undergraduate degree to complete an LLB in two years (rather than the normal three). Senior Status students have the opportunity to complete optional modules in each of their two years at Kent. Many of our Canadian graduates have returned to practice in Canada in large commercial firms, provincial firms and specialist firms.
Kent Law School is one of the leading law schools in the UK, featuring in the top 20 of all three major UK league tables; we are ranked 16th in The Guardian University Guide 2020, 11th in The Times Good University Guide 2019 and 18th in The Complete University Guide 2020. We also have an excellent international reputation; we are ranked 58th in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings for law 2019 and are listed among the top 100 law schools in the world in the Shanghai Ranking’s Global Ranking of Academic Subjects 2018. We are also ranked among the top 200 law schools in the world in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2019.
You’ll find us located on the University of Kent’s beautiful 300 acre parkland campus in Canterbury, in the south east of England. The campus overlooks the ancient city of Canterbury and is less than a mile from the city centre. It’s also less than an hour from London, and under two hours from Paris, France.
