I started thinking about what future I wanted since I was young, went through veterinary science phase, then it became fashion designer then arts then med then nursing then architectural design then finally law. Throughout these years I have somewhat tallied out everything except for law but knowing I’m so indecisive I’m not sure if taking law is the right choice.
A little background, I’m a high school student, all my grades are undesirable except for English and I made the grand mistake of choosing science subjects and later finding out that science subjects weren’t for me but by then it was too late. Currently I’m planning on studying foundation in law but I’m also doubting if I should,I’m scared I would make a mistake and choosing the wrong subject again and I don’t have money to make that mistake.
My reason for choosing law? My very typical Asian family, my own desires to study law and get a well paying and relaxing Jon after a bit of suffering after uni, law has many career options other than being a barrister or a solicitor( planning to become a solicitor because public speaking is is definitely not my thing either) plus I could also change my majors wi thin the same category if I feel LLB Law Hons isn’t for me.
But the overall problem as to why I don’t know what subject to chose mainly is because, I have no passion for anything, heck I don’t even feel there’s a meaning to life but I’ve practically tallied out other subjects and law is my final choice. Somebody help please cause I need to make my choice in a matter of around 2 months or less and I really don’t think I can afford to make a mistake

Hello, Lisa. I'm in the middle of putting together a bunch of resources on my blog that university applicants can access to help them through deciding on what course and university they want to go into, how to find the right one, things to look out for, UCAS application tips etc. Would you mind if I included your video as part of the 'Choosing A Degree' page? 😊

I'm 14, but I've got many interests including Music and Art, but working with animals has been a dream of mine, right after baking, which I've given up on. I still have no idea what to do with the interests once I've decided on a career path, however, this video has helped and ease the anxiety about what I should do when selecting what my main career should be when I grow older. I've still got to do more in my life, but I am forever grateful for this video ♥️

Oh, are you read my mind or watching me or what?

I realized I have this problem right now just push it back of my mind…

Problem is, my two interest are absolutely at the different sides. So, I can’t choose something that get me more opportunities in the both areas.

I always loved to create. Different stories, characters, atmospheres. And I do now. So, I had chosen a cinema as my point of future career. And I started my preparation for university considering this “creative” choice of my education.

So, I work and work for it…and then I realized I spend whole days to learn about skin care. I love it. And I want learn more about this and share my knowledges with people. And I realized that I feel comfortable in this “skin care” item thing, but I never felt this way when I thought about screenwriting. I just kind of “dreamed “ about that but never truly see myself in this “cinema” world…But it’s too late for take other subjects for exams, because this yes almost ends.

So, I don’t know what to do now.

I really don't know how to pick between Psychology or Animation. They are completely different and I am not sure what to do and I have to pick my degree this year! Is there a way I can do both?

This video's pretty insightful and I stumbled upon it at the right moment too because I've been struggling to choose a new course for me 😅 I actually stopped for 1 year because I don't want to waste any more money for tuition if I'm just gonna shift to a diff. course again and again.

I love drawing or illustrating a lot of characters and I'm very much interested in doing photography and videography, but I don't ever want them to be an obligation to do to the point where I lose all my creativity and passion for them… so now I'm deciding to take a diff route. Thank you so much for this video! I hope others like me can stumble upon it too and I hope it helps them 👌🏼

My best skill and subject has been English, ever since 1st grade. I've always been the best or among the bests of my class. So I began to like it. I thought about making a career out of it, since it's literally the only thing I'm good at. But, I don't know. Now I'm studying English and introduced psychology and I'm loving, and I mean loving psychology, and absolutely hating English. So now I'm thinking of a major in psychology? I'm so confused… I have to decide till February and I really don't know what to choose. 🙁

Colleges are in it for themselves, you're just a number to them.
You're just an addition to their spreadsheet.
How about we stop falling for all this?

Screw college, they're for profit forcing you to spend 2 years worth of tuition for their generals, a repeat of high-school classes.
    Am I wrong?
I went to the U of MN and none of their prereq courses were any better than Community College.
I will always disparage going to college if the U of M of a true representation of what collefe is like.
Hell, even their 3xxx, 4xxx courses were garbage.
Teach yourself and hone your skill, then demand will find you.
Never, ever has college been a factor in my career.
I wish I could go back in time and tell my parents not to worry about the college fund.
    :: smh :: if only!

good advice Lisa! i recommend everyone think about the interdisciplinary skills and opportunities that a degree will provide you with – the future of work means you are going to have to be agile and your employability relies a lot on those skills.

I absolutely agree with your first tip! I love drawings, animating and messing around/thinking of ways to improve games so I thought it would be great as a career but after a year of my game design & animation course, I started hating it so much. Ended up changing my course back to science.

This is so perfect for me! Just like your example pertaining to a friend, that she wants arts, interior designing and all that but ended up with something related to business. I can totally relate to it because I really really enjoy arts too but I want to build my own restaurant in the future. What course could I take?

Currently interested in wanting to start my own business but I am not sure what to study at university. I'm headed towards economics and management but I also want to travel and learn new languages. Starting a business takes a lot of time yet at the same time you cannot own a business and travel because you need to put all your time into it. It's a hard decision
