Social learning with MOOCs

Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) may originate in higher education, but they are already making an impact beyond academia. In this session Dr Chris Paton explores MOOCs in general before describing his own experience in setting up the Health Informatics Forum MOOC, an online course for the Forum’s 6,000 members. Chris will explain what is involved when creating and distributing content under an Open Access, Creative Commons licence and the learning value in using online discussions and social networking.
