Educating the Undergraduate Analysis Paper (Arts of Educating Collection)

Educating the analysis paper starts with knowing the tacit techniques and expertise needed for novice learners to go from passive reading to energetic engagement with resources. The problem for the instructor rests in being able to establish and then train these to college students of varying passions and skills. Anne Knafl (PhD, Bible, 2011), Bibliographer for Religion and Philosophy, and David Frankel, PhD college student in Background of Judaism and Library Intern, will go over strategies for educating the analysis paper, drawing on their expertise collecting, analyzing and educating scholarly elements at the Regenstein Library. This workshop will deal with not only the how but the why of assigning analysis: Why must college students publish analysis papers? Do they know? Do you know?

The Craft of Educating (CoT) is the Divinity School’s application of pedagogical enhancement for its graduate college students, devoted to preparing a new generation of accomplished educators in the subject of spiritual research. We bring alongside one another Divinity School college, current college students, and an comprehensive alumni community of decorated academics to share our craft and to progress critical reflection on spiritual research pedagogy.
