19 Mar Guide to BIOSCI107 First year Biomed/Healthsci (premed) at University of Auckland New Zealand Doctor

#biomed #auckland #biosci107

Lots of students have messaged me on instagram asking me about each of the papers at premed (biomed/healthscience) at Auckland University.

I intend to cover all of the core papers – worth 60% required grade for med
BIOSCI107
CHEM110
POPLHLTH111
MEDSCI142

But here is the first one

BIOSCI107 is about cell/tissue biology. It is one of the most fundamental aspects of learning physiology prior to medical school. It is also one of the challenging ones

The content is heavy, and with lectures almost everyday, the amount of studyload builds up very very quickly. Knowledge of it beforehand is necessary in order to give yourself the best chance of successfully getting into medical school.

If you are serious about wanting to apply for medicine (MBCHB) to become a doctor, it is important that you review your current study methods first.

The students who do well are not necessarily the ones who revise beforehand, but those who have a robust study efficient study system – how fast and well do they take in new information for long term retention?

Hey Dr Jae, would there be anything you can tell me about the medical imaging programme at uoa, if that programme would be highly competitive like medicine? On the website it says a required gpa of 5, which I understand is likely to be a higher gpa.

Hey Jae, can you please do a video on studying strategies? You’ve mentioned in alot of your videos that if you want to be successful in your first year of premed you need to have excellent study strategies, can you please make a video on this before university starts for the year? And what worked for you personally?

Hello Jae could you please do more guides on the other core papers in semester1, would be nice if you can kindly explain more on how to manage the work/study load especially in semester1 as there are 3 core papers and the work load is apparently massive. Thanks!
