13 Jun Radiology Schools in Texas Are Available

For starters, Houston Community College offers an Associate of Applied Science program. It is a two-year program and offers a certificate from the Texas Department of State Health Services. This can be used to gain employment. While attending this college, students will be gain the experience to become a trained radiographer. Students will work in the labs and in a clinical atmosphere to get the knowledge they need. In order to be part of this program, students must be efficient in English and math.

Lone Star College System offers an Associate of Applied Science degree as well. Just like HCC, this is a two-year program with two different locations. After the first semester, students will take part in the clinical training at the same time continue their course work in basic, intermediate and advance radiology procedures. Applicants for this college must pass a physical exam, background checks and go through drug screenings.

Unlike the above colleges, The University of Texas Health Center at Houston and San Antonio offer a four-year radiology program for the student wanting to go further. At Houston location, students will be exposed to a number of diseases and equipment throughout hospitals. Post-residency fellowships have seven different specialties. These are usually completed in one year with room for electives.

There is not too much of a difference in the San Antonio location. This college is the second largest in the country. It is known for its state-of-the-art laboratories and research. One difference is that it offers only five radiology specialties as opposed to seven.

Another university located in Houston is the Baylor College of Medicine. They have a Department of Radiology and offer a four year degree. There students will conduct research through the Division of Molecular Imaging, which is place to train not only students but faculty who want to further their education.

Also, Baylor College of Medicine continues to engage their students with their Radiology Club. They have various educational and social activities, while teaching students a working knowledge of the radiology field.

All schools have their own way of providing students with the knowledge needed to be successful. All are creditable, and will give the gift of knowledge for anyone willing to obtain it.
