30 Mar Scholarships assistance PhD applicant assistance kids
Although Marko Mwipopo was developing up in a modest village in Tanzania, earning a school diploma (enable alone attending a college more than nine,000 miles away) was not a long term he could envision. Currently, many thanks to a scholarship funded by former UO Trustee Sammie McCormack, PhD ’85, he’s earning his PhD at the College of Oregon.
Although earning his master’s diploma in linguistics, he helped transform the university’s burgeoning Swahili program. As a PhD applicant in important and sociocultural research in training, he’s discovering how to most successfully instruct kids who are mastering English as a 2nd language.
“My passion is learning bilingual training,” says Mwipopo. “I want to market that in Tanzania and particularly assistance secondary university kids.”
