11 Apr Summer Research on The Hill: What Might Life Look Like in Space?

Mercedes Ruiz ‘21, an English major, and a few other students are spending the summer in Chemistry Professor Kenneth Mills’ lab studying organisms that live in extreme conditions on Earth in an effort to understand potential life on other planets.

Each summer, over 100 Holy Cross students dive deep into cutting-edge research through the College’s Weiss Summer Research Program. Under the mentorship of faculty, students engage in focused projects that push intellectual boundaries and fuel their academic interests.
