“We see it as our job to completely transform education and learning in South Africa, and the most effective way to do that is to supply superb instructors for the profession. I imagine we do that nicely: 93% of our learners are used inside a few months of graduation,” states Professor Sarah Gravett, Government Dean of the Faculty of Education, UJ.
“With our research we emphasis on transforming education and learning and manufacturing understanding that is usable in this state. We were being lately awarded a SARChI Chair in Childhood Education, focusing on Language, Mathematics and Science teaching at primary school level. Prof Henning is the chair-holder. We have a different SARChI Chair in Childhood Education, focusing on education and learning and care, held by Prof Jace Pillay.
“Other potent places in our Faculty are Science Education and research on aid to vulnerable children and children struggling at school. An rising potent area for us is Greater Education as a field of research.”
