University of Lincoln Research Showcase: Detecting Diseases Through Retinal Imaging
Professor Andrew Hunter, College of Science
Doctor Bashir Al-Diri, School of computer Science
This research uses retinal imaging to examine blood vessels in the back of the eye, and to observe changes in these vessels caused by diseases such as diabetes.
The project is a large-scale collaboration between several different partners as well as leading academics based at the University of Lincoln. Vascular disease is the number one killer in the western world, so research such as this has the potential to be both revolutionary and life-saving.
