05 Aug UW SMPH MD Students: 2017 Shapiro Summer Research Program

A total of 28 students entering their second year of medical school at the UW School of Medicine and Public Health conducted eight to 12-week summer research projects mentored by faculty members in the Department of Medicine. Project topics ranged from basic (laboratory) science, to health services research, to clinical studies, to quality improvement projects. In this video, three Shapiro research students tell their story.

The Department of Medicine, which comprises internal medicine and its related specialties, is the largest academic department in the University of Wisconsin System. We advance the health of the people of Wisconsin and beyond through high quality, patient-centered care, innovative research, and education of the next generation of physicians.
